What Can I Do?

Tennessee & Thailand Prayer Connection

Prair

Her name is Prair. She is fourteen years old. Her dad is a Professor at the University of Khon Kaen. Prair’s mom works for an automotive store. Prair went to a Christian school for two to three years. There she learned about God everyday and even memorized scripture verses regularly. Prair was surrounded by Christian influence. Her friends were Christians as well as their parents. They witnessed to her and her family while she went to the Christian school. Now Prair’s mom and dad are separated. Her mom has moved to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Prair now goes to a Buddhist school where she participates in Buddhist ceremonies. She has lost contact with most of her Christian friends. Probably the only Christian influence she has now is a Bible given to her and the memory of the verses she had once memorized. (Written by an MK, out of concern for her friend.)

Most Isaan have never heard the Gospel message. Some, like Prair, get the chance to hear the message of the Gospel, but few Isaan decide to make the decision to follow Christ. It is believed that to be Isaan is to be Buddhist, therefore many Isaan would think that an Isaan Christian is no longer "Isaan". It is like they would be turning against their home, family and country. Although there are some Isaan Christians, they constitute less than 1% of the 18 million Isaan people. Many Isaan people either have never heard the gospel or have such a limited understanding of it that they think Christianity is "the foreigner’s religion." Please pray that millions of Isaan Buddhists will have the opportunity to hear the message of the Gospel. Also ask God to help them understand that it is Truth for everyone, not just the foreigner.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Romans 1:16
